The Gist
Project Red is a collaboration between Emery Wells and fxphd to share our practical experiences and knowledge of the Red One camera system.
To do so Project Red is organizing a global shoot with film makers from around the world to produce an entirely open source PSA promoting green energy.
What we realized early on about Red was there were lots of different people who were interested in the camera. DPs, Producers, Directors, Visual FX artists and everyone in between. So we organized this site to include practical information about each facet of the production and post production pipeline. Team members will have their own blog to share relative experiences as it relates to their discipline.
What makes Project Red so cool?
1. In addition to calling on seasoned film makers to join the team, we'll be calling on all of you to help us turn Project Red into a reality so check the recruiting page to see how you can help!
2. We are entirely open source! That means everything we shoot we'll be sharing on the web. Everything from our source plates to our project files will be available for you to download, tinker, and share back with the rest of the community.
3. We're supporting an excellent global cause by spreading the word of promoting green living and maintaining a sustainable environment for our planet!
What Project Red is not:
We are not out to be the end all be all testing resource for those interested in using the camera in their own production. The concept of Project Red is to set testing aside, throw the cam into production, and share our experiences every step along the way.
